Christ Church, the C.O.I. Parish Church Taney Road, is located just outside the village of Dundrum in Dublin 14.  Construction started on this fine historic church around 1815 and it was opened in Mid-1818. Over the years various building extensions and internal works were carried out, including installation of a fine organ and the stained glass east window in 1871.

McKeon Group’s Mechanical Division were pleased to be contracted to complete the latest improvement works on this church.

Works included the removal of the old inefficient central heating boiler and replacing it with a new high efficiency oil-fired unit and associated controls.  The control system allows full temperature modulation, two-stage frost protection and remote accessibility.  The facility to remotely control the heating system was an important client requirement for the works, due to the often non-regular times that the Church is used for weddings, funerals etc.   As there was no access to broadband connectivity in this part of the church, it was achieved simply by the use of mobile sim card technology, providing remote on / off and boost facilities.

The consulting engineers involved on this project were Murphy Belton Consulting Engineers Ltd.
